PS4 owners watch three times more porn and have better taste than Xbox One owners

According to SugarDVD, the Netflix of porn, PS4 owners are watching three times as much porn as Xbox One owners. This massive discrepancy isn’t caused by the PS4 outselling the Xbox One, either: The latest figures put the PS4 at 3.4 million units sold, versus 2.4 million for the Xbox One. In short, it really does seem that PS4 owners are much more likely to partake in the porn than those with an Xbone. Furthermore, it seems that each console also has rather different tastes in porn consumption as well: Xbox One owners, you’ll be unsurprised to hear, are connoisseurs of Big Butts, while the PS4 crowd prefer Amateurs.

If you’re a fine, upstanding citizen like myself, you’ve probably never even heard of SugarDVD. Like Netflix, Sugar started off as a $ 10-per-month DVD-by-mail company, but it now also offers subscribers unlimited online streaming of porn movies. Like Netflix, there’s a SugarDVD app for most platforms, including iOS, Roku, and the PS4 and Xbox One. Thus, the company is perfectly placed to tell us about the porn-watching habits of eighth-generation console owners.

The first stat, then, is that PS4 and Xbox One users are signing up for the SugarDVD app at a three-to-one ratio. SugarDVD doesn’t give a hard figure on how many minutes of porn have been watched on each console, but presumably it’s around the same ratio. Further, the company also gave Buzzfeed a list of the favorite movies and porn categories for each console. While the lists are fairly meaningless without context — Are these just US figures? Did some regions have more stock than others, thus biasing the demographics? — it’s still fun to try and draw some conclusions. It definitely seems that PS4 and Xbox One owners have different tastes in porn, with PS4 owners digging the Amateurs category and Xbox One users preferring College and Big Butts. The console owners do seem to agree on one thing, at least: Cream Plosions 2 is the most-streamed movie on both consoles.

The big question, of course, is why is PornStation 4 is getting so much more action than the Sexbox? The Xbox One, with its always-on Kinect sensor, would appear to be by far the better console for hands-free streaming. Or maybe that’s exactly why Xbox One owners don’t use SugarDVD — because they’re creeped out by the possibility that their console (and perhaps the NSA) is watching them fap. (As an aside, if any game developers are reading this, you would make millions if you create the first game to leverage the Kinect’s motion tracking in a sexy way.)

In all likelihood, the main reason for the three-to-one disparity is that the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One — maybe not three-to-one, but enough that, with a bit of luck, randomness, and demographic bias, the numbers roughly tally up. Without actual numbers (maybe the SugarDVD app is only used by a few hundred console owners), we should definitely take these findings with a pinch of salt. One other possibility is that the PS4 is selling better in countries that watch more porn (Europe?), or that the average Xbox One user just isn’t into porn for some reason.
