The French are no longer sexting. Now, when they exchange dirty text messages, it is called ‘textopornographie.’

The language of love now has its own word for sexting: textopornographie.

L’Académie française, France’s official language authority, decided that “sexting” needed a French equivalent, Vice Motherboard reported.

The academy, which was established in 1635 to update the language, recently released its new list of foreign words that have been French equivalents. These include “vidéoagression” for “happy slapping” (the British version of the “knockout” game), and “surtransposition” for “gold plating.”

Sexting joins a long list of technology-related English terms that started creeping into the French lexicon before they were replaced.

Instead of using LOL, the French write “MDR” for “mort de rire,” or “dying with laugher.”

The word “hashtag” in the Twittersphere has been given the boot and “mot-dièse” (literally “sharp word”) has taken its place, according to the Associated Press.

The French have also bid adieu to “email” and said bonjour to “courriel” in 2003, Motherboard reported.
