The NHL will air a seven-part series beginning Jan. 22 on NBC Sports Network called “NHL Revealed: A Season Like No Other,” which will follow more than a dozen players through the league’s outdoor Stadium Series games, the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and the Heritage Classic, the league announced Monday.
The Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist and the Islanders’ John Tavares are expected to be among the featured players on ‘NHL Revealed,’ along with the Penguins’ Sidney Crosby, the Blackhawks’ Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, the Canucks’ Daniel and Henrik Sedin, and the Kings’ Jonathan Quick.
The series will continue airing on Jan. 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 27 (two hours), March 5 and March 12.

The Stadium Series games begin Jan. 25, when the Anaheim Ducks will take on the L.A. Kings at Dodger Stadium (9:30 p.m. ET, NBC-SN). It will continue Jan. 26 at Yankee Stadium with the Rangers and Devils (12:30 p.m., NBC) and again on Jan. 29 at Yankee Stadium between the Rangers and Islanders (Jan. 29, 7:30 p.m., NBC-SN).

Tickets to the Rangers’ two January outdoor games at Yankee Stadium go on sale this Thursday at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.

After the Olympics, the Chicago Blackhawks will host the Pittsburgh Penguins outdoors at Soldier Field on March 1 (8 p.m., NBC). Then the Heritage Classic will wrap up the signature league events on March 2 in Vancouver between the Canucks and the Ottawa Senators (4 p.m. ET, NBC-SN).
The Stadium Series is the NHL’s follow-up to its successful Winter Classic, which began in 2008. Regular-season outdoor games first came in 2003 when the first Heritage Classic was played in Edmonton.
This year’s Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium between the Toronto Maple Leafs and host Detroit Red Wings on New Year’s Day is expected to surpass the all-time hockey game attendance record of 104,173 set at the Big House in 2010.
