Reporter Vera Chinese takes a bite of pizza flavored ice cream in front of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square.
I have never been an ice cream fan.

Sisters Meka Lloyd, 28, (left) and Shawnta Lloyd, 26, of Columbus, Ohio, take a bite of mustard-flavored an corn-flavored ice cream. Shawnta liked the corn, but Meka said mustard is gross. “It tastes like mustard and some ice cream,” she said.
Imagine my delight — I mean the unborn baby’s delight, the little one has the cravings, not me — when I found a way to combine my new favorite frozen dessert with another perennial prenatal staple, pizza.
In honor of National Ice Cream Day, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square offered its guests free samples of a host of strange flavors — including lox and mustard — Sunday.

Reporter Vera Chinese honors National Ice Cream Day by sampling exotically flavored ice cream.
Eating a whole cone of the, um, unusual flavors, provided by Max and Mina’s of Flushing, Queens, earned participants half-price admission to the museum.
Tourists and locals lined up all afternoon to close their eyes and take a slurp of one of six mystery flavors, many gagging in disgust only moments later.

Pizza-flavored ice cream pizza was less fresh pizzeria pie, says Chinese, and had more of that “stuck in the back of the freezer for months” taste.
“After they take a bite, their facial expressions are like this,” she said demonstrating her best sour-lemon face.
“But the kids like the pizza.”
To me, pizza was less fresh pizzeria pie and had more of that “stuck in the back of the freezer for months” taste.
Hummus tasted like a big old frozen scoop of mashed up chick peas, which means I thought it was pretty good.
Pregnant gals aren’t supposed to partake in uncooked fish, so I took that as an excuse to skip the lox-flavored treat. I also took a pass on corn and mustard.
Overall, the strange flavors are still refreshing, if you’re desperate on a hot day, but I don’t think Good Humor will be packing them in the freezer aisle anytime soon.
And I think good ol’ ice-cream sandwiches will satisfy my cravings for the next five months.
