Yaleni Tohalino gave birth to a twin girl and boy minutes apart as the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve. That gave siblings Lorraine and Brandon two different birth years.
These twins don’t share a birthday – or even a birth year.
At least two sets of twins were born in different years Tuesday night as 2013 became 2014.

Lindsay Salgueiro delivered twin girls in the minutes before and after midnight at Credit Valley Hospital in greater Toronto. The twins are named Gabriela and Sophia.
The family plans to celebrate both twins’ birthdays on New Year’s Day, but each will have their own cake, Warren Begazo said.
In Toronto, another set of twins made their entrance on different sides of midnight. Baby girls Gabriela and Sophia Rodriguez arrived at 11:52 p.m. and 12:00:38 p.m. at Trillium Health Partners Credit Valley Hospital to parents Lindsay Salgueiro and Christian Rodriguez.
“Our New Year’s is never going to be the same now,” mom Lindsay told Canada’s CTV news.
It’s not unusual for twins to be born on different days, given that they’re delivered minutes or sometimes an hour or two apart. Being born right as the calendar year changes isn’t unheard of, either: It happened as recently as 2012 in Minnesota, Florida and Buffalo, N.Y.
