It was the best of times … and the worst! Here’s a roundup of our favorite and least favorite moments of 2013.
KLG: I loved when the little boy came up to the Pope and hugged his leg and sat in the Pope’s chair and the way the Pope reacted to him. It’s a new Pope, and it’s such a refreshing change. That was my favorite moment of the year.
HK: Here’s a weird moment. I don’t know if it’s my favorite, but it ranks up there: It’s the woman who filmed herself signing Sara Evans’ version of “My Heart Can’t Tell You No” to her 10-month-old baby and the baby started to cry. There was something about that YouTube moment I had never seen before. I love music so much, and to watch a baby who doesn’t know words react to sound was really special.
KLG: And it’s only that song.
HK: It’s that one song. To watch that baby well up while she sang that song just reinforced to me what it is about music that’s so different from anything else. It touched him, and then she comforted him afterwards. It was something I had never seen before.
KLG: That was special.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford – Kathie Lee and Hoda’s worst, but in a good way.
HK: That and Miley Cyrus’ twerking. That was also a hit.
KLG: That would be filed under my “worst” list.
HK: Twerking?
KLG: I think. Yeah, at least in terms of pop culture. Also I love Toronto’s Mayor Rob Ford.
HK: Oh, my God, yes! Is that the best or the worst?
KLG: Oh, that’s the worst, but in a good way. I hope he wins reelection so we can continue to enjoy the exploits. We want him to get a reality show with Anthony Weiner, so it could be “Ford and Weenie.”

Kathie Lee finally got an iPhone and started tweeting in 2013.
TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW
We have to say 2013 was pretty good for us. Big ratings on “Today,” lots of friends, a “brilliant” newspaper column, and Kathie Lee finally joined the 21st century.
KLG: I got an iPhone, I started tweeting, and I have a podcast show.
KLG: We had kind of a charmed year.
HK: We really did.
KLG: We’ve had our greatest ratings ever.
HK: Yeah, they were the best we’ve ever had since the show started.
KLG: Check with us next year.
HK: If we make it.
KLG: I just always tell my kids and I say to myself, you are one decision away from disaster.

Hoda doesn’t think Justin Bieber will be getting back with Selena Gomez.
WILL THE STARS ALIGN?
We’re gonna whip out our crystal balls now and try to see what’s in store for some of our favorite headline makers.
HK: I think Justin Bieber is going to grow up a little.
KLG: But will he get back with Selena Gomez?
HK: No, but you can hope this crazy moment in the sun for him will force him to mature a bit.

Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian have been an item since 2007. Kathie Lee thinks the pair should have a group wedding with Kourtney’s sisters Kim and Khloe, along with their mom Kris Jenner.
KLG: Do you think Kanye and Kim will get married?
HK: Yes, they’ll get married, but I’m not sure it will last. She’s such a part of a bigger family, and he seems to like her separate from them.
KLG: But they do have a beautiful daughter.
KLG: Why don’t they all just get married at the same time? The moment Khloe finds some guy, she can get hitched, and Kourtney never did marry Scott Disick. In fact, my pal Kris Jenner should get married with them, too, because she and Bruce are split up. The ratings will make “The Sound of Music” look like cable access.

Kathie Lee reckons Hoda found vanished labor union leader Jimmy Hoffa in her purse.
A MESSY STATE OF AFFAIRS
New Year’s resolutions are like promises made to be broken. And while we’re gonna at least try to stick with them this year, if we don’t … at the very least we want points for effort.
HK: When it comes to resolutions, I seem to keep making the same one every year: I want to get organized. I want to know what’s in my purse. Last time I looked, I found an ornament and string cheese.
KLG: And Jimmy Hoffa. Every year, I’m so grateful to come through unscathed. I’m still standing — a little osteoporosis, but not deadly. If I get through the year with no mug shots of my kids, that’s a good year.

Kathie Lee and Hoda want Lady Gaga to be a little more elegant in 2014.
CAN GAGA CHANGE HER TUNE?
In 2014 we want more …
KLG: Lady Gaga! But not outrageous Gaga, I would really love to see her sit in just a very elegant gown at the piano. I would like to see more of Hugh Jackman, and I want more of Mayor Ford.
HK: I want more of Sara Bareilles. Please.
KLG: I want Barry Manilow’s musical “Harmony” to come to Broadway!
HK: And I want more rap!
KLG: And I want less!

IT’S OUT-REGIS BUT TRUE
The biggest surprise of 2013 … Regis is on Twitter!
HK: Stop the presses!
KLG: He tweeted.
HK: It’s a miracle!
KLG: It’s over. Civilization is over; hide the children, and no one’s safe!
