Patricia Carroll, an attorney representing the family of the accuser in the now-closed sexual assault investigation, says a civil suit against Jameis Winston and the police will be filed.
Jameis Winston’s legal troubles aren’t over just yet.
The 20-year-old Heisman-winning quarterback, who led Florida State to a national championship victory win on Monday, will most likely be pulled back into court as his rape accuser prepares to file a civil lawsuit against the redshirt freshman.

The unidentified woman, a former FSU student, says Winston raped her in December 2012. But state attorney Willie Meggs in Leon County announced last month that his office would not prosecute the star QB because there was not enough evidence to convict Winston.
The accuser’s attorney, Patricia Carroll, disagrees and has requested an outside review of the local investigation.

She also promises a civil suit against Winston and the Tallahassee Police Department.
“Absolutely you’re gonna see a civil suit,” Carroll told ABC News. “I want heads to roll.

“You can not have law enforcement that is not held accountable,” she said.
The attorney for Winston, who was named MVP of the championship game, admits the two had sex but says it was consensual.

Florida State University quarterback Jameis Winston was accused of raping a fellow student but criminal charges were never filed.
The accuser, who tried to remain anonymous, was soon outed and received death threats — as did Carroll.
It’s gotten so bad for the accuser that she has been told to stay off campus — forcing her to withdraw from the university.

“They told me absolutely not,” Carroll said. “They, too, had the impression she would be in physical danger.”
Winston has been mostly silent publicly about the accusations, aside from a statement he issued in December after Meggs, the state attorney, announced no charges would be pressed.
“It’s been difficult to stay silent through this process, but I never lost faith in the truth and in who I am,” Winston said, just days before he won the Heisman. “I’m very relieved I’ll be able to continue my education at Florida State and I’m excited I can now get back to helping our team achieve its goals.”
