Pharaoh Brown will be left out in the cold when Oregon plays in the Alamo Bowl.
The Ducks’ starting tight end was suspended for the bowl game for his role in a wild, on-campus snowball fight in Eugene over the weekend.
According to the Oregonian, Brown was suspended for the Dec. 30 game against Texas by coach Mark Helfrich for joining the mob of students that pelted drivers with snowballs on Friday.
“Someone started banging on the car and it was like the snowballs were fists hitting the car,” Sherwin Simmons, a retired university professor, told the student newspaper, The Daily Emerald. “Then I was blinded by people both tossing snow on the window and racking snow off the roof. They were out of control.”
Brown was part of a group of football players and students who hurled snowballs at cars trying to pass through the snow-covered campus during a storm that dumped several inches of snow overnight. Players reportedly organized the event, but not every member of the Oregon football team was pleased with the way players conducted themselves, with video of their actions being broadcast on YouTube.
“Embarrassed by the video I just watched. That’s not all of us, sending the sincerest apologies,” sophomore offensive lineman Andre Yruretagoyena said on Twitter.

In the clip, Brown, dressed in an Oregon letterman jacket, dumps an entire container of snow on the hood of one car then threw the bucket in Simmons’ face as he tried to get out of his car while he was being bombarded.
“I decided maybe if I get out, they’ll see that I’m 60 years old and I’m a human being,” Simmons told The Daily Emerald, adding that he will not press charges. “I was disoriented and all I wanted to do was ask why they were doing this and to please stop.”
They didn’t.
Helfrich, who is out of town on a recruiting trip while players complete final exams, said in a statement released over the weekend that, “The behavior exhibited in the video is completely unacceptable and dangerous. We take this matter very seriously and disciplinary actions have begun.”
Brown has 10 catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns in seven games for the Ducks this season.
