Frozen porcupines, gazelles, bats and caterpillars were all heading for the dining table.
It hardly sounds like a Paris fine dining experience.
Police who raided an “exotic food shop” in the French capital this week found it stuffed with gazelles, bats, caterpillars and five frozen porcupines — all destined for the dining table.

The animals had all been illegally imported from Africa, reported Le Parisien newspaper.
More than 200 pounds worth of bush meat was discovered in the shop in the north of Paris.

Le Parisien reported the food was “unfit for human consumption”. The forbidden food was imported from the war-torn former French colony of the Central African Republic.
The owner of the shop is set to be quizzed by officers “shortly”. It was the latest grisly food tale to hit the home of haute cuisine in the past week.
Some 200 animals, including ducks, geese and chicken, were rescued in appalling conditions from an unlicensed abattoir close to Paris. Their ultimate destination was thought to be a Chinese restaurant table.
