The video of Socks dancing to the tune of Fleetwood Mac’s 1988 hit Everywhere became an internet hit earlier this year, with more than seven million people viewing it on YouTube.
It has now been announced that Socks has been called back to star in a second commercial for the mobile phone network Three, again set on the windswept beaches of Shetland.
The company has teamed up with VisitScotland and Promote Shetland for The Knitwear Before Christmas campaign.
Socks will be kitted out in a Fair Isle Christmas sweater created by Shetland designer Doreen Brown in accompanying print adverts.
The sight of Socks strutting his stuff on Shetland captured the imagination of millions
Steve Mathieson, the VisitScotland’s island manager based in Lerwick, Shetland, said: “The sight of Socks strutting his stuff on Shetland captured the imagination of millions and helped thrust the Northern Isles into the global spotlight.
“We are delighted to see that he is once again showing off not just his dance moves and new Fair Isle knitwear, but also the spectacular scenery of this unique and magical part of the world.”
The original advert was shot at Eshaness in the north of the Shetland Islands. It took a week to film the minute-long clip at locations around the islands, including the lighthouse at Eshaness and a beach at Hillswick.
Socks was handpicked from hundreds of other candidates after advertisers ran an X Factor-style contest to find the perfect pony.
