Claire Danes says husband Hugh Dancy is ‘really, really good looking!’

Claire Danes seems to have mastered her so called life both on and off screen.

The 34-year-old actress who plays Carrie Mathison, a CIA agent who suffers from bipolar disorder, on Showtime’s “Homeland,” is really quite well put together in real life.

“I’m happier in my thirties. I feel clearer about who I am and less apologetic about it, and more accepting of my limitations and also more aware of the ways in which I’m capable,” she said in an interview for Glamour magazine’s January cover story.

Danes’ first leap to stardom came as the character Angela Chase in the short-lived series “My So-Called Life.” While the ABC show only lasted less than a year, its impact was insurmountable, garnering four Emmy Awards nominations and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for Danes.

Now, the actress is anything but the grim high schooler who was often confused about life. In fact, she’s happily married to actor Hugh Dancy and together they have a son, Cyrus, who is almost one.

“I was always looking forward to this time because people talk about it in very romantic terms,” she added to the mag. “And I think it’s true. Gravity hasn’t had too profound of an effect, and you’re a little less emotionally gangly.”

She also bashfully admitted to having a crush on her handsome husband, whom she married in 2009.

“It’s true that you often kind of forget to see the person you’re most intimate with,” she confessed. “But occasionally I’ll come to and sort of think, ‘Oh my God! You’re really, really good looking!'”

Danes may be the happy wife at home, but in her current starring role she’s the one who wears the pants, well pantsuits that is.

The ‘Homeland’ star confessed about her character Carrie Mathison, ‘I actually forget how to wear my own clothing when I’m filming because I wear basically the same pair of jeans and a long sleeve T-shirt and then change out of it and immediately into my pantsuit.’

“Carrie wears a lot of Theory. That is her brand. She’s a Theory girl,” she said about her “Homeland” character.

To go along with Carrie’s wardrobe is a lot of crying, which Danes has affectionately gotten use to.

“She gets emotional a lot,” she said. “But I actually think feelings are really hard for people. I think people are uncomfortable by uncensored expressions of emotion. But, you know, that’s my job.”

As far as the “ugly cry face” that comes along with her character’s bouts with emotional highs and lows, Danes could care less.

“I really have never been concerned about being beautiful on-screen,” she admitted. “That’s just not my jam. It’s not relevant for Carrie. I don’t need to worry about that, and I think that’s really great. I love sitting in the makeup trailer and getting my makeup done in 15 minutes as opposed to an hour and a half.”

The self-professed feminist, who is a highly respected actress, may have opted for a more conventional career if her thespianism hadn’t panned out.

“If I hadn’t been an actress, I was thinking seriously about going into psychology,” she said. “It’s just really what I’m interested in: the human psyche and how we process information.”

She does, however, get to tap into the intensity of the human psyche in her role on “Homeland,” which is an unintentional parallel between what could have been and what is in Danes’ life.

“How we experience feelings and create our own personal narratives,” she continued. “Acting is just an extrapolation of that.”
